Hi all,
can someone confirm if i am doing this right or not?
My car wont start.
It turns over and has a spark.
It has air.
So fuel right?
I cleaned out the filter in the carb, no change.
I checked to see of fuel was making it to the carb. No.
I took the pipe off the top of the machanical fuel pump to see if fuel came through when turning. No.
I checked that fuel could make it through the fuel in pipe and made it to the fuel pump. Yes.
I took the pump off, submerged the inlet in fuel and manually pumped it. Nothing came out.
This is gubbed right?
I need a new fuel pump right?
If someone can confirm my procedure before i buy another one
Thanks.
P.S I have to have my retest done be 9th of december or i'll get the full fee again.
Shit.
were are you based what engine you using
a crossflow in Glasgow. Its been very cold of late. It hit minus six at one point. Can that do it?
sorry wich pump you using not engine can see zetec lump
it looks the same as this on 4592104242 on ebay now
do you want one i have one spare some were xflow pump i mean
That would be great. So is this pump gubbed then?
id just get a bike electric pump off ebay. Much easier and it must save a half BHP at least!
Do you have to get a certain kind of electric pump or will any do?
What do you do with the hole in the engine?
No idea on what type of pump you need, but the hole gets covered with a plate to stop any oil getting out
Jason
any big bike pump will do
If you're in a hurry then I'd recommend getting another x-flow mechanical pump. You haven't got time to faff around with electrical
gubbins!
You may find one in a scrappy, or maybe an ad in "Wanted" might get you one quicker.
If all else fails, Burton Power will flog you one with a warranty, but it'll cost you a few £££ more (just checked - £18 + P&P + VAT). They
sell blanking plates for around £7.50 + P&P + VAT, if you decide to go electric!
David
BTW: It would have been better to post this question in "Engines"
