i've got cable modem at the moment, 1mb broadband thingy. just ordered a laptop and fancy having wireless connection for when i'm running
around the house shouting look at this!
basically what do i need and how difficult to install it etc?
thanks again in advance for help!
Dont bother, wireless is a PITA and expensive.
We had wireless in the house and we all ended up back on wired connections. Many of my mates have done the same. And we werent using cheap equipment
either!
Wireless is temperamental as Charles Manson on crack.

Never had a moments trouble with mine, all computers in the house (4) just log in without any problems, even guests with laptops are on line before they realise it is available
My mums got wireless. Bit of trouble setting it up but when i called in my IT mate all was sorted. No problems since apart from the software on the router needed updating.
What they all said (mostly).
My 50 or so quid wireless router has been running pretty much for 2 years solid now.
Occasionaly drops the connection, but not very often. It was very very easy to set up as well.
The benefits also include a LAN for moving files around and the ability to have the 3 printers continually plugged in and available to every computer
on the network.
(Small photo printer / black laser / colour laser)
Finally got my wireless system up and running, excellent.
Broadband all over the house with laptop and PDA.
Took ages to sort though, had to do everything manually. Learned a lot about IP addresses!

interesting to see the mixed opinions on the reliability of wireless, i'll do some more thinking!
however is THIS simply all i need to become wireless if i should go down that road?
No - that's an ADSL router. It contains an ADSL modem.

No probs here either use it at home all the time, great with the laptop, even use it in the garden sometimes. Never drops connection and always seems fast.....
It really depends on you house some houses it will only work in certain hot spots.
No probs here either.
Using a Safecom SWAMRU-54108, chosen as it's got a built in USB print server and modem.
Easy enough to set up but the instruction manual is crap.
well after going through the spec of my laptop with my brother in law it seems it's all ready to go wireless and all i need is one of
THESE
might stick with old fashioned wires for now save up a few more beer tokens!
dont even need that mate, if your laptop is already wifi enabled and you have a cable modem, then get this:
