My laptop was modified to form part of a workgroup in a contractors' office.
Now I am self employed again I tried to remove this as it has screwed up the floating licence for my drawing program.
How do I remove all trace of the workgroup from the computer?
PS I can't get help from office as their computer guy has left!
Right Click on 'My Computer'
Then 'Properties'
Then 'Computer Name' - if using XP
Then bottom 'change' button' (To rename this computer or join a domain, click Change)
Then click 'Member of' and change to what it was previously.

I tried that, but asks for replacement workgroup name or domain address.
I have no idea what domain address it was before!
Is original computer domain address stored permanently somewhere for identification?
Nope - normally they are always set to
'workgroup'
by default.
To join a domain, you need the domain authorisation credentials.
What bit of software did you say wasn't working correctly and what error is it displaying? Seems strange it's complaining about being
'workgroup'

Murray
Pro engineer wildfire. Licence error -97.
Only computer change since it last worked was the configuring of computer to workgroup.
I tried renaming computer, but error message changes to - valid username but no address found.
Problem sorted - I had disconnected the local area network card which was throwing the whole license program.
LAN restarted and problem has gone.
Maybe fiddling with computers isn't a skill I possess...
