IE7

Has anyone downloaded and installed IE7 beta yet?

I did so this afternoon.

Quite different, and the font rendering is much better. Ironically now just about on a par with the Acorn machines I used at school 15+ years ago....

Opera and Firefox are still much better browsers imo and have been implementing some of IE7s 'new' features for years.

MS beta software don't be silly wait until it is released then wait 5 years until most of the major security loop holes are plugged.

Firefox is supposed to be more secure than Internet Exploder aswell.

Problem i find with firefox is some sites dont work with it. Not sure if they have been designed using microsoft software or something.

As a software developer / web designer, that's EXACTLY what the problem is.

It's short-sighted web developers who assume everyone uses IE, and only test on IE that cause all the problems.

I write everything so it's at least usable on 3 browsers:
IE 6 (5.5 if I can find a copy of it somewhere), Mozilla Firefox, and Lynx (command-line browser lots of blind folks use)

I don't have a mac, only Windows and Linux, so I can't test safari, but if I hear of any problems from safari users, I put them right immediately. I can't stand when people code for IE and don't care about the 20% of users that don't use it.
