amp to sound card

I'm putting some of my vinyl on to my computer, but I don't know which socket in the sound card the jack plug from my amp goes in.

Anybody know?

Cheers

Chris

Line in, its usually coloured a light blue, if not then you'll have to consult your documentation.

You may have to enable it in Windows as well, its part of the Volume Control panel.

They're all different.

Make sure the line in on your soundcard is enabled - i.e. unmuted with the gain up - (mute all other inouts - and try a lead into the various sockets. Touching only the centre pin will buzz out the input.
You will need a 3.5mm stereo jack to 2 x phono leads.

Oh, and remember you need to run your turntable into the phono input of a hifi amp first to bring it up to line level.
