Hey guys, for those in the know... could you explain to me what I specifically need please.

I have a New Netgear WGT624 Router and WG111T Adapter which are both 108Mbps.

The current network I have is as follows:

From Phone Socket to ADSL Modem is ok.
Modem to PC is via USB Ports ok.

Now I have a Router I have to reconfigure things yes?

So - Phone Socket to Modem - OK
Modem to Router Modem is USB - Router is RJ-45.

Router to PC (RJ-45) on Router and I do have Network socket (RJ-45) on PC.

Do I need a new Modem with RJ-45 instead of USB?

Your solutions are very welcome - meanwhile I shall try to bypass the Modem... with phone straight into router... therefore I shall be offline for a while...

unfortunately you don't have the ideal router, really you wanted one with a built in ADSL modem like the netgear DG834G

I'd take it back personally.... much easier to get the all in one integrated.

A guy in PC world sold my m8 that router - as a modem one! :-( Wanker! :-(

It can be used, it's similar to mine. BUT you have to have the host PC on if you need to access the internet remotely, which kind of defeats the object. Ideally a router with built it ADSL modem would be used, but you can get ethernet or serial ADSL modems (i think!). Either would plug into your router. Connect router to desktop pc with ethernet link - pointless this being wireless.

you could buy a simple adsl router like this one:

and use a ethernet (rj45) cable from your wgt624's wan port to a port on the adsl router. or alternatively you could bite the bullet and just get a wireless adsl router like this one:

the 2 I have linked to are very cheap versions and I haven't used either BUT I will say that it is not true to say 'you get what you pay for' - we have tried many different types of adsl router at work (for remote users) and the price does not reflect how good they are... we have cheap routers that vastly out performed expensive ones...

we tend to use the netgear dg834g routers but the range is awful on them (20m straight line of sight and they struggle!!!) - and now we hear form 20 people saying they have one and it's the best thing since sliced dogs sweetbreads..... I only quote from experience......

the netgear dg834g comes in at a little under £60 by the way...

So hopefully I'll get sorted soon...

Maybe not all lost.

You need to power your existing USB modem (ala PC) and provide RJ45 to the wireless box. I was wandering around B&Q to collect a bit of arial support tube for water pipe, in the same isle they had just the thing for £15.

Its a powered USB hub/RJ45 switch and protected supply for your PC in one.

May be worth a punt, I did not study it but it looked like it has been designed to terminate the USB modem and share 4 x RJ45 LAN connections so would be just the job.
