My boss at work has to log onto the government website to do tax stuff..

on his old PC, his user name and password etc automatically appear at the login screen, and he can log in ok

On his new PC, nothing appears in the entry boxes, and he cant log in

( he cant remember his user name and password; it was generated by the website and is a random 16 digit code)

What stores the password? can he copy files from his old PC to his new one to allow him to log in??

Should be some software out on the net to do it try Tucows however I know an way way to do it but it means using Firefox in future

(1) Load fire FireFox on both PCs and on old PC when asked if you want import from IE click yes.
(2) Load MoziBackup on both PCs and use it to create a backup file on the old PC
(3) Transfer backup file to new PC and use Mozbackup to do a restore.

can he not login on his old pc and then change his password (presumably the website gives this option)? he'll then know what it is to login to the new pc.

government website wont let you change your password......

you can export cookies from internet explorer too. Then import to new comp. Think this will help. Although i am very surprised a government website allows password saving and use of auto complete. but there wew go, governments are very odd! rant over!
