19inch monitor wide web sites

I have a new wide screen monitor

How come on ebay etc with my old 15" monitor the web page just didn't quite fit and I had to scroll across to see the right hand edge, and now I have an extra 4" of width (oo er missus) it still doesn't quite fit even on full width and I still have to scroll across a bit?????

are web sites designed to marginally exceed the size of your monitor however big it is?

Cheers

Mark

Have you changed the resolution from whatever your old 15" ran to whatever your new 19" can run?

19" should comfortably do 1280 x 1024 (although I prefer 1152 x 864 on a 19" screen) and no website should want anywhere close to that.

I presume you're talking CRT not LCD?

Your right poor coding could beto blame. But I suspectits the resolution your running your screen at.
Although anawful lot of sites are designed to be accessible for 800x600 you need to view 1024x768 to get 'the full picture.
I think widescreen it relates to 1124x726(?) numbers off the top ofmy head. Will boot the laptop up and check if need be.

Also check viewing on a different browser. Often different browsers interrept thingsslightly differently, particularly if there is javascript or jscript is used.
Some tech specs of what your using would help narrow it down.

I was running my old monitor 15" LCD at 1024x768

Strange, I got a new 19" widescreen 1440x900 LCD on Friday too.

No issues with anything here.
