Firefox / IE or Mac?
If you say Firefox it's easy.

...I might as well tell you how with firefox

You need to download an .flv player

I downloaded the free FLVPlayer
from http://www.martijndevisser.com/blog/article/flv-player-updated

Plus the videodownloader extension for Firefox
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/2390/

install, restart ff etc.

An icon will appear in the bottom right (like a floppy disc on some ream paper)
When you are on the youtube page, wait till the video has completed loading, click on the icon, save the item, rename it to .flv, and then use the flv player to view it.

I think there is another extension called greasemonkey that does the same thing, but I haven't tried that one.

go here ... http://javimoya.com/blog/youtube_en.php ... And follow the instructions. basicaly Just copy and paste the address displayed in the address bar when viewing the youTube video. in to the box on that page, and select youtube from the drop down menu and then download the video.

Then change the file extension on the file you just downloaded from ".htm" to ".flv"

The site tryes to convince you to download a demo of there software to convirt the video to MGP/AVI/MOV or Rm. dont bother. just down load VLC player from http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ and open the file

Im sure there will be free software to convirt flv file to other formats if you want but that shoudl let you view videos off line on you own computer. anyone that doesnt already have VLC Player. GO GET IT, it playes nearly anything!
