liam.mccaffrey - 20/11/06 at 11:23 AM

i love firefox now but it does have a 1 annoying feature, when you click the back button it always starts on the top of the page not where you clicked the link to move away from the page in the first place.

anyone know how to stop this, am i being a dunce, or is there a plugin to stop it?

cheers

Liam Mc

Are you using Firefox 2 because this opens a seperate tab for the link you just clicked on.You then if want to go back to your original page you just close the page you just opened or click on the previous tab rather than using the back button. It should go back to the point in the thread where you clicked the link.

if you press the scroll button on your mouse instead (assuming you have one) then that will open in a separate tab, if you shift + mouse button, you stay in same window but the link appears asa separate tab

It was released Nov 1st i think.Simply go to firefox 2 download on mozilla it will overite your older firefox and save anything you had on the original firefox eg any favourites, passwords etc.

It's one of the horribly annoying bugs that Firefox suffers with, the other main one being the infuritaing copy/paste bug that's been around since day 1.

Using tabs is a sort of workaround, but opening new tabs for a link you just want to follow and then come straight back (e.g. using a forum!) is very cumbersome.

I have no problems with Firefox 2 I just click on link on web page opens another tab read it if no longer needed just close it and you are left with original window and returns to where you clicked on link.Simple and no hassle.
