SATA and SATAII
Mark Allanson - 25/11/06 at 11:05 AM

I have just bought a hard drive caddy which needs a SATA hard drive to go in it, all I can find are SATAII drives, will this be compatable?

My original intention was to fit my ATA 80gig drive but didn't read the specs properly - DUH

Any help, info gratefully recieved

Should be backwards compatible...

The main thing is the cabling - the connections in the caddy are nothing like the (old) hard drives I have in the computer, can anyone confirm what the SATA cable ends look like?

nothing like the (old) hard drives EIDE or as they are also now called PATA drives have bigger ribbon cables and connectors. The power connectors are different as well.
