Cos there cat got hungry
Seriously the mouse on this computer is driving me nuts, the ball keeps sticking despite it being taken to bits & cleaned a few times. As I know nowt about computers what do I need to know & where should I get one? Are the ones that work with light any good?

graememk - 2/12/06 at 02:31 PM

i'll post you one for 5notes, is it ps2 or usb ?

MikeR - 2/12/06 at 02:34 PM

the light ones are excellent - no need to ever clean them.

but, if you undo the screws on the base you'll find the little disks with lots of holes in them bunged up. clean these, put it back together and you'll get another 12 months out of it.

Yes, much better. You can get led or laser ones. The laser ones have a better resolution but the chances are you won't notice. Look for a good quality wired optical mouse from the likes of ebuyer although when you add in the postage you may as well pick up one from pc world. Don't buy a really cheap one because even starter ones from microsoft only cost 4 quid incl vat and I've always liked those. Logitech ones are good too.

The optical ones may not work on shiney white surfaces though so you may find you need a mouse mat. However they do work on most things including cats, carpets, knees etc.

I dunno, like I said I know nowt about these things. You're talking about the type of connector, right? It's got a small (about 10/12mm) round green plug on it & a pic of a mouse next to the socket.

I've got a nice heavy Logitech wireless Laser one, it's beautiful to use and fits the hand loverly.....

Been doing that for a while now & although I'm getting fast at it, it's not really a skill I feel needs further development.

hillbillyracer - 2/12/06 at 03:00 PM

So is that one of these light ones or an old bollock style thing?

Jasper - 2/12/06 at 03:07 PM

Laser Light one, not cheap, but nice - or just go for the £5 option for a regualr mouse....

hillbillyracer - 2/12/06 at 03:12 PM

Sorry Jasper, the Q above was for graememk. Your reply wasnt there when I started to reply, you guys can type faster than me! Cant justify £30 cos it aint even my computer.

Ball free mice can be found under a tenner, reliablity varies Genuis mouse ain't too shabby -- a lot better than a mechanical mouse.

graememk - 2/12/06 at 03:18 PM

yes red led type ps2 (aka laser)

hillbillyracer - 2/12/06 at 03:21 PM

Ok I'll give one a chance. I take it P&P will be extra, but it wont be much. I'll U2U my address later, gotta go out now.
