All-in-one Printer recommendation
donut - 28/12/06 at 01:13 PM

Can anyone recommend a decent all in one Printer/scanner/copier for my Mac. I have about £80 to spend but wondered if any of the £50 - 60 ones were any good.

cheers

I always used Epson, but then thought I'd try a Lexmark for a change. Im using the all in one Lexmark X3480, seems great, only 1 cartridge, which is cheap, lasts long enough, and the printer was only about 30 - 40. I think however now you can buy an even higher model for similar money, so I can definately recommend it. Good scanner quality, good print / copy quality.

I have always had a problem with lexmark as i felt they were of poor quality. May have a look as they are very well priced.

I've got two Canon Pixma's - bit more money, but great pieces of kit - they do excellent printing to CD/DVD too.... very happy with them.

Cheers boys, looks like a trip to Purley Way.

The Canon's do come out best in a Mac magazine i have so worth looking at plus they are apparently cheap to run!

I would avoid Lexmark - my one went bang (literally) last week and I won't be replacing it. I'm getting an HP all in one from PCW for about £50.

I have always had HP but wondered if others were better. I'll have a trip to PCW and Curry's as they are nest to each other.

Cheers

HP every time if you can stretch to it the PSC2575

Epson only really good for workhorse dot matrix printers

Cannon -- Inkjet endless problems with clogged nozzels, laser printers are fine.

Lexmark -- good but SOHO printers are very slow.

Brother very very good soho laser printers, I haven't tried the inkjets.

Can't agree with that. Our last printer was a Photo 700 which we had for years before giving it to a friend when we got an R200. Both produce stunning photo prints, the R200 was superior to the equivalent Canon at the time of purchase.

The ONLY problem we have noticed with Epsons is their tendency to clog the heads if they are used infrequently, and this is greatly worsened by third party inks.

I've just got a HP 2575 - very impressed with the print quality. Only real downside is the cost of ink... but I don't use a lot anyway. Big selling point for me was its direct connection to my ethernet router.
