What is Java?

I think it is used by some web sites or some thing?

Anyway every now and then it asks if I want to update it - I have clicked yes and off it goes.... I have just looked in my add and remove programs and there 6 updates all totalling 145MB each plus the original 130MB program this is about a GIG of hard disk space it is using !!!

Question - can I get rid of it?

You can uninstall them all and then install the newest version from:

http://www.java.com/en/

Will at least get rid of the junk ones. Theres no reason it should have updated like that though.

Get rid of them all except the highest number then you shouldn't need to get anything till the little coffee cup appears in your taskbar again.
