I can now convert old VHS video to DVD but windows movie maker can not read the file format that the DVD is in. Is there any 'FREE' software
out there that can read my DVD's and convert the file format to WMA or MPG?

Nero recode can get it from the DVD image to mpg4, wmv, whatever basically....
There are several free applications that can do this.
I prefere to use AutoGK:

But you could also use DVDx

There are others if you look harder. Nero is definitely "slicker" but AutoGK has more options/flexibility.

Downloaded The nero one but can't see where to convert to WMA file. It converts to MP4 which Windows movie maker can't read. How do you
convert to wma or avi?
