Ok, so one of my staff has brought her work laptop in to do some work. I've had her laptop working fine on my router before, using a LAN
cable.
Now it's saying IP conflict, so I set the IP to self assign, and now it says limited or no connectivity.
I HATE trying to network PC ......
Open a command prompt and type:
ipconfig -renew
If this doesn't work, leave the network card set to auto assign and re-boot.
HTH
I find that self assigning never really works, I'd look at the ip / subnet mask / dns of another computer on the network, and copy it onto the
laptop, but make the IP unique
Regards
Matt
Ok, so now I have the lan up and connected, but when I open a browser it just tries the existing broadband connections, and won't find the LAN connection
go into ie
tools
internet options
connections
set to "never dial a connection"
Done that - still won't work.....

No wireless - and presumably the default gateway stuff is fine if it's showing the connecting as connected??? Or not??
How do I find out the DNS of my PC - as I've got it set to automatic and it doesn't show me it.
