I pay for 2meg connection with pipex, but I am only getting >512, they also keep sending me snottly letters saying I am behind on my payments (I am
on direct debit!), and it takes over an hour to get through to them on the phone.
They are really p!ssing me off at the moment, can anyone recommend a better supplier?
I closed my account with them absolutely useless
paid them of as you have to have the year contract
they still send me invoices of odd amounts like £8 then £10 etc
imagine if there doing this to 100,000 people nice little earner ay

I have been with madasafish for quite a while now and no problems at all. Worth a look at..
Contrary to Scottys' opinion. I've been with Tiscali for a few years now and very happy with them... agree with BT about AOL. You only go
AOL if you're gullible and easy IMO.
My knowledge tends me to believe that the further South you are, the more choice you have. Up 'ere int' North you have a limited number of
ISP's for obvious reasons.
I'm hoping to get 8Mb very soon, but as of yet the Tiscali Max people say it's not reliable so are not releasing it nationwide yet.
Steve
I'm on Pipex, but planing on moving ASAP. Speeds have been dire in the last few months and they don't even offer any ADSL Max upgrades to existing customers. Useless.
best company to go with in my opinon is demon, my parents used them with no probs for 5 years and they have great service etc, they aren't the
cheapest but the connection always has plenty of bandwidth and as far as i am aware never drops out.
my parents went with talk talk recently which was a BIG mistake internet has not worked in 4 months now. they are trying to back with demon.
you get what you pay for i guess
I moved to Pipex recently and the speed is dire, plus the fact it drops out fairly regular.
When I rang and told them it was averaging 350kbps and pointed out he 8mb I was payin g for the answer was...
"well sir the contract is for speeds UP TO 8mb"
Customer service is rubbish, even when you can get through.
I am considering going to the ombudsman at:
www.otelo.org.uk

One thing to bear in mind for DSL is that it is very dependent on how far away you are from the exchange.
I had an "up to 8M" connection from Bulldog but could only sync up at around 2M. Due to the distance (I'm a long way from the exchange)
I was pretty happy with this.
The only way to get a reliable speed (assuming you don't live within 200yards of the exchange) is to move to a cable Modem supplier (Virgin
Media)
