Does any one have a recommendation for a board band provider unlimited downloads and through a BT line?

No problems in two years and technical backup is great, should you need it.
If you are happy with a 2Meg connection.
It's all I can get here. The joys of a rural existence.
4 years, no problems, good download speeds.
I dont use the telephone service from them.

They are rolling out their exchange upgrades this summer so alot of the uk will have a chance to go over to adsl2 on a LLU exchange if it's not
available already for them.
Edit : Just checked the stockport exchange and sky have installed their LLU hardware so their MAX (16mb unlimited) package IS available to
you
If you have a sky package (the £15 one will do) you can't get a better price for 16mb unlimited - £10 (realistic fair use policy of 350gig pm)
No traffic shaping or blocking of newsgroups or p2p
If your exchange is'nt enabled yet then you can go onto 8mb 'connect' with a 40gig limit for £5 a month until your exchange is upgraded
and then they will switch you over (which is what i'm doing).
There IS traffic shaping for p2p on the 'connect' adsl1 package but you can overcome this with a torrent client with encryption (utorrent
etc)
You also get free evening and weekend calls to 01 & 02 local and national numbers
I was paying £27 for 1mb broadband + £21 sky 6 mix package + £4 For onetel Unlimited evening and weeked calls = £52 pm
Now I get sky's 6 mix package, 8mb broadband and free evening and weekend calls for £26 pm
Concerning onetel they are now talktalk btw
And with sky amazingly enough I have always got through to a UK (admittedly scottish) customer Service person not an Indian Call Centre.

No provider is truly unlimmited these days, it really is quite hard to exceed 4gb per moth unless you are downloading a lot of movies,

Thanks for all the suggestions. While I don’t use p2p all that much at the moment I was planning on starting to use it a bit more also I listen to net
radio almost continually.
also make all my phone calls with skipe
The sky package looks good however I watch almost no TV so seams a bit of a waste to go with sky TV

I use Plusnet unlimited use ADSL for £14.99/month (less 50p discount that I got for reccomending a friend).
Never had a problem in two years and download speed is exactly as advatised.

ADSL4Less are very good. Were with them for 2 years while in rented accom.
Connection never dropped out, and it was truely unlimited, we regularly had between 25 and 40Gb of downloads per month, with no issues.

I can't believe people are actually recommending PlusNet, i'd rather slide naked down a lemon-juice soaked nail-studded bannister than go

Sky sounds good but they had biiiiig issues actually provisioning people when I tried to order, after two months of me phoning up once a week to find
out why my line still hadn't been provisioned and why they hadn't bothered contacting me to let me know about the latest problem that
generally cropped up a day after my last call, I gave up, had a big shouty fit down the phone and told them to cancel it all and generally f*ck off.
Next day the router turned up and the adsl magically came on, by which time i'd already cancelled the phone line with BT. Joy.
The days of unlimited adsl are ending/gone, the increasing use of bandwidth hungry services like VOIP, streaming audio/video and p2p mean gone are the
days when ISPs could afford to subsidise the few heavy downloaders with the spare capacity from the 'average' customer. There are the odd
couple of ISP's hanging in there for now but it won't last, fair usage policies are just the start, unless significant expansions and cost
reductions can be made in the core networks then at this rate many ISP's may end up moving towards PAYG for data transfer.
Plusnet did go through a very bad patch but major changes have been made and they have made month on month improvements over the last year. How things
will go now that BT has bought over them is another issue.
Plusnet kept me fully updated durring the migration process and I have found give the user more control over the connection, firewalling, spam
filtering and other features than anyother ISP I have been with. Also unlike some ISP they don't have hidden charges for mailboxes, webspace or a
static ip.
Having been with few ISPs both PTNS and ADSL including the highly regarded Zen who were great untill I asked for help regarding major speed issues
after upgrading ADSLmax when they made a very reluctant poor effort at technical support, I rate Plusnet pretty highly.
The Be ADSL2 connection on my other line is also working impressively returning the high connection speeds expected. Only downside they don't
include a mailbox in the basic (but low cost) account.
Oh the features are great, I do miss having the free static IP and the CGI enabled webspace, but just wait til it starts going wrong. I may be cynical
but i'd wager their communication was only great because getting your money depended on it, it'll dry up now you have a contract.
FWIW I was really pleased with them for a couple of years, it's all gravy until they f*ck something up and then you have to try and wheedle it
out of them. I left them because they 'upgraded' me from my rock solid totally reliable 2MB connection onto the Tiscali LLU, from that day
onwards I couldn't keep sync with the exchange for more than an hour. I never got an email telling me about the ISPs plans to rollout LLU, I
never got told about the opt-out for those who didn't want to be guinea pigs, I never got told I was one of the lucky ones going to be moved, I
never got told it had been actually done until I started looking into why my connection had suddenly got pants. Then it was 'not possible'
to put me back on my old normal 2meg This all came about a month after they made changes to Ellacoya that meant I was running at literally
dialup speed for a good two weeks, during which PlusNet were totally unhelpful, initially blaming a huge section of their customers for simultaneously
having the same problem, and never actually openly admitting fault, even after the event. Communication and customer service are totally alien
concepts it appears. I don't know where these month on month improvements you mention came from, I only left at xmas and it was only going one
way, downhill.
