I had to change the password for logging on to my ISP. Using XP home. The dial up logon window refuses to save the new password when I type it in and if I tick the box 'save password' it just reinserts the old one. If I don't tick the save password box it leaves it empty. Either way I have to type the password every time I log on.
Ant help on getting rid of the old one and getting explorer to remember the new one? Please!

someonw more clever and knowledgeable about microsoft explorer may come along to correct me but this sounds kike a cookie problem


cookies is term gvien to small lunps ts of data that is stored locally on your PC to speed up loading of pages, these can be icons or to save time having to enter data e.g. password being an example.

Take a look in folder

Cocuments and Settings<your user name>Local SettingsTemporary Internet Files

where <your user name> is the name you use to log on to your PC, eg. JohnBloggs.

Deleting the riight items, if you can find it amy fix it - deleting the whole lot won't hurt since when youo visit the web site again, the stull will be saved in there again. Over time this folder accumulated a huge amount of files so good housekeeping it to clean it once in a while.

Just create a new dial-up logon and make that the deafault, once you have proved it works delete the old one.

No cookies left but that didn't help.
New dial up connection made but XP must have the old password stored away somewhere. It replaces the new password in the new connection with the old password, even though I have deleted the old connection.
Any other ideas? Can I find the old password somewhere in XP and delete it?
