I've just tried copying some pictures from my Camera memory card onto the Pc a Internal USB memory card reader.
I copied the originals from the card and onto the computer.. but the copys won't read and its re-named and changed the file sizes of the
originals!
Any ideas of any way of saving the situation?.. I can't understand how its toutched the originals! or if its a fault with the Memory card,
Reader, or Windows Vista Untimate X64
Needless to say i'm angry and sad either way as it looks like i've lost the foto's from a wicked weekend away
mhhh
i would try it on a windows computer...
don't use VISTA its way to early or that..
you are only a test bunny if you do it!
Tks
Hmm I'm realising the mistake I made getting Vista now lol.
Tried it on another XP computer and in aq different reader but the same corrupt mis-sized files appear even the .JPG has changed to .JPF or something
equally as odd and if re-named to .Jpg it still doesn't work.
If the files are still on the card it may be recoverable with one of the many applications such as - CardRecovery.
JPF is JPEG2000 file format.....
Don't think pre-vista even supports it....
Good luck!!!!
Hmm that appears to do it... but not sure the foto's are worth £20 odd
When I put the card back in on a different reader windows offers to scandisk and fix it but daren't incase it does more damage!
If you do try and open the files its copied it just says "photo galery can't open this photo, or the file format is not supported, or you
don't have the latest upadates"

my guess is that Vista automaticly converted the images to jpf
the jpg 2000 format (what ben says)
sow you only need to download a jpg 2000 xp viewer or converter to standard
jpg
Tks
PC Inspector it's free and it usually works. On my old smartcard it found pictures we'd deleted 2 years earlier.
I'm running Vista so it would be strange that it would convert them and then not be able to read them.. unless its yet ANOTHER flaw!

Ready boost?
Is that the thing where you use a USB stickmemory card etc as a RAM buffer?
If it is then no i'm not running that.. Haven't thought to look on the Microsoft site for a solution tho. I thought it might have been a
problem with my card reader, but now its happened to somebody else maybe it is Vista's fault!.
I had a SD card go faulty the other week when I tried to update the Sat Nav on in.. but just put that down to it being a cheep one off ebay! that
won't even format etc now to try and revive it

Download a copy of Google Picasa and let it handle all your photo transfer and archiving.
http://picasa.google.com/download/
Picasa Excellent bit of software very easy to use although the photo retouching tools are limmiteed they are very easy to use and actually work.
Nope just tried the google thingy.. still says it can't open the file.
I've just downloaded a piece of software called ZAR 8.1
It's recovered everything from the memory card apart from the 4 pictures I wanted
