Opening images emailed from a Mac
Jasper - 8/5/07 at 02:14 PM

So my Dad has a Mac and no real idea how to use it - not good....

He's struggling to send me attachments. I've got him to go to 'Mail', open an email, click attachment, go to the picture and then tick the 'Send Windows friendly version'. When it gets to me on my PC the image is embedded in the body of the text - not as a seperate attachment. If I then copy and paste into into a folder I end up with a 'Scrap' doc that will only open in Word, and I still can't do anything else with the image. I want it as a Jpeg I can then mess about with.

So, what are we doing wrong?

I'm not that up on Mac's but after you copy and paste the image what extension does it have?
Have you tried to right click on the pic and "save as"?
Do you have any photo editing software installed, as paint will struggle with anything other than bitmaps and jpegs.

Hope that helps

Cheers

Never been an issue with my Mac. What format is the pic saved in? If it's a jpeg or other "normal" type, it should work....

It comes up as a scrap.shs .....

Doesn't let me Saves As or open in any programme but Word - but then I can't do anything when it's in Word either as it doesn't let me change the image with the Picture Formatter.

I've tried opening it with MS Digital Image Suite - doesn't want to know....

What happens when you don't send it in Windows friendly form ?

Otherwise put Thunderbird for Mac on
