Com port and digidash
Avoneer - 18/5/07 at 05:56 PM

Anyone know how to get my com port working to talk to the digidash.

Device manager says it's fine and working, but the digidash software can't see it.

Do I need to dig out an old computer?

Thanks,

Pat...

Yep - you can change everything apart from what the aux light does and if you want it to show your neutral light, you need to plug it into a pc and do it with the software.

Hi Ray, I'm using my new computer and the com port it has on the back. May be too modern for it all though! Device manager only shows Com1 and says it's working. Do you think it would be better with a USB/COM port thingy or shall I borrow an old laptop with only a serial port?

Cheers,

Pat...

Do you have any other software/processes running that could be holding onto the com port?

I don't think so.

Right, bought a USB to com adaptor.

Installed it.

Changed the COM port to 1 as it defaulted to 16.

Connected to my mates digidash and it was fine.

Brought the laptop home, did everything the same and it can't see my digidash.

Any ideas anyone?

Right, turns out to be the wire between the digidash and the com port on the end of the loom.

Tried my laptop on my friends digidash and it was fine, as well as trying my digidash on his wiring.

Email fired off to ETB already!

Thanks all,

Pat...
