Windows vista help PLEASE
davrus - 26/5/07 at 06:49 PM

Hi ya

My Father has not long got a new computer which is running windows vista.
Problem is, he has installed pinnacle 11 on it which installed o,k however when he opened pinnacle up it ran for about 10 minutes then the computer crashed, a screen appeared saying to effect that you p.c has had a major crash do you want us to repair it, which he clicked yes please. Repaired ok and ran for a couple more minutes then crashed again.
Now the p.c will not boot up at all, it is unable to detect C/drive and will not run.

Any ideas to how we can get it up and running as he does not have a repair disc.

Cheers Dave

sounds like a hardware fault to me - possible hard drive failure?

Possibly the master boot record is stuffed, or bios corrupt.

Could be the disk failed as mookaliod said.

I would suspect that the recovery is from a partition in which case it may well be something like holding ctrl + F10 on boot (depending on the manufacturer). That is assuming the partition info isn't shot.

here's what happened to my mate last week...

he's got XP and got the auto upgrade window pop up for java to update. he clicked ok, and now his PC won't boot up at all either. he thinks its something to do with the Java update (which apparently crashed a whole load of servers in germany too, but i've not heard this first hand)

could your dads problem be related to any auto upgrades?

Possibly, It can not find C/drive at all.
We beleive it is more like hard drive fault now as it will not even install a fresh copy of windows xp. Is seems to format ok but then will not go to the next stage to install windows.

Thanks for your suggestions.

Cheers

Dave
