Motherboard audio panel setup

Hi

I've just bought a new motherboard to upgrade my system with but need a hand identifying which pins on the board to connect my front audio header connectors to.

On the connectors I have:

GND (Black cable) - ground presumably
EAR R (Red cable)
EAR R (Black cable)
EAR L (White cable)
EAR L (Black cable)
MIC DATA (White cable)
MIC VCC (Red cable)

On the motherboard I have:

GND - To ground connector
PRESENCE#
MIC_RET
OUT_RET
MIC2_L
MIC2_R
OUT2_R
J_SENSE
OUT2_L

Thought I'd ask on here first since last time I emailed ASROCK they took ages to reply.

Thanks

Ed

Hi
The only 3 cables that need to be connected for audio are

GND.......................GND (Black cable)
PRESENCE#
MIC_RET
OUT_RET
MIC2_L
MIC2_R
OUT2_R.................EAR R (Red cable)
J_SENSE
OUT2_L.................EAR L (White cable)

MIC_RET and OUT_RET are part of the J_SENSE, and are used
for plug detection. They have nothing to do with the analog
audio signals and don't need to be connected. Similarly,
PRESENSE# is a logic signal used to tell the motherboard that
an HD audio header has been installed. Your case wiring is
AC'97, so the PRESENSE# signal does not need to be asserted.
So, PRESENCE# is also not connected. If an HD audio cable
was attached, it would ground the PRESENCE signal

Hope this helps

thanks - I was wondering whether all were required.

Do any other ones need to be connected for the microphone?
