Spyware help!!!!
Johnmor - 11/6/07 at 11:03 AM

I have been attacked by some crap that has set its self up as my homepage,
Its called (protectstand.com)

I have tried to reset homepage but it just overides it. It has also appeared in my start up programmes box(bottom right of screen)
I have tried spybot , didnt find it, and I have tried system restor but it says there have been no changes.

It is really annoying, how can i get rid of it and how can i remove programmes from my start up area?

Help please!!

You could always search for it in 'regedit' and just delete every reference you can find... Might be risky though.

Try either of these

Adaware
Look for the free version

Spybot

I found xcleaner useful >
<link>

Ccleaner will get rid of all the flash & cookies etc from ie.
<nuther link>

Probs best to run a few cleaners as they all pick up different things.

Also have you looked at your phishing filters & ADD ON manager? I bet your problem is in there. Under the tools menu in IE7.

And also try counterspy - free for a trial period - found it very good....

Buy a Mac and run FireFox.

Make sure you get V1.4 or above, as there is a problem, which tells AV software its a virus. Fixed in v1.4 and above.
Its a free download anyway!.

HiJackthis is a small application that can tell you what's embeded into Internet Explorer and it can remove it for you too. It needs a little skill to use but does work very well! It can also stop services and applications running that you want rid of!
