converting to mp3
pif - 6/8/07 at 10:08 AM

help, i have loads of music on i tunes which i want to transfer to my motorola mobile but most of the stuff on i tunes is mpeg 4 not mp3 and the mobile will only play mp3.

i have tried importing and exporting in and out of itunes to get them as mp3 but it doesnt seem to work.

i have tried downloading mp3 converters but they seem to come in 3 categories. 1. they contain a trojan.2. they only convert 50% of the file as they are demos or 3 they just dont work.

any advice on a decent - fully working - mp3 converter that i can down load and an idea where from. so far tried nova torrent and downloads.com and major geeks.

Burn to CD then use a mp3 cd-ripper to mp3?
Most mp4 have heavy duty DRM. You could try something like FairUse though....

Nero converter will change from mp4 to mp3.

If you are using iTunes the burn to audio CD option is the way to go then set the encode method to MP3 and encode from the CD. It will be a bit tedious and worth investing in a pack of re-writable CDs or you will have a huge collection of frisbees!

I use i tunes on a mac and there is a setting to burn/convert your music in mp3 or mpeg4.

I've just done it with VLC media player which is a free download but its a bit fiddly to do one track at a time. Burning an audio cd and then re-ripping in mp3 would probably be more convenient as long as its not protected somehow.
