Hello

PC World are selling a couple of laptops at the moment that I have my eyes on for my Mother so it doesn't need to be ultra high spec but would like her to get a good pc at a decent price

these are the two I'm looking at

COMPAQ C701EA

and

COMPAQ V6630EM

(sorry tried to put links in to the pages but they didn't work)

Being a bit of an AMD bore and the fact that it has 2Gb memory and the rest is very similar I'm leaning towards the second one.

Anyone got any opinions of these laptops or can suggest a better alternative

cheers

Geoff

p.s. I normally wouldn't advocate PC World to anyone but in this case It's a viable option.

Have now! There's nothing comparible in stock in that price range.

We want something local in event of problems happening so she can go to a person rather than a phone line, in case I'm not around.

its not pc world or any other out of town warehouse you need then its a local computer store like myself only in your area.

I bought an Acer 5720 from Comet for £399 a couple of weeks back (needed a laptop in a hurry and was the best Dual Core deal I could find)

Staples & Comet have pretty good prices on HP, Toshiba and Fujitsu-Siemens.
