May not be a problem with the machine but here goes.

When i plugged the machine in for the 1st time the background was a beautiful orange with a lighter orange swirl running horizontally across the screen, very nice i thought.

The next 2 times i switched the machine on the background is in black and white however my coloured icons are still nice and coloured. Is there a setting that changes the background colour or does it randomly change. I can't find anything in the useless manual.

don't panic!!!! what you're seeing is tied to the internal clock. Depending on whether it's supposedly daylight (orange) or dark (black) outside the PSŁ changes the background colour.

So From what you're saying I dare say you set it first during the day and the next two times you turned it on it was dark outside.

Just make sure you're PS3's clock is set right. Nothing to worry about

Sounds like you need to consider a roof for your garage

And a PS3!!!

The PS 3 does more of what i want. It's horses for courses. It was a close run thing between them but i wanted the blue ray player so the sony won.
