Torrent Downloads
Schrodinger - 3/2/08 at 08:55 PM

I have just tried to download some music from a torrent site using utorrent
http://www.utorrent.com/

The first file I tried worked fine but everything since shows as downloading but all 0% done. Am I missing something?

how many seeders has each listing got? this is the number of people sharing the file

Some ISPs are throttling P2P quite severely but not enough to get no action..... Sounds like a seed problem.

Thanks
Just checked they are all now showing 0!
But when I downloaded the original files they were showing loads.

Sounds a bit strange. Seeds dont disappear. I use torrents alot. Some do sit there and do nothing but normally show the upload as more than the download.

utorrent is the best prog I have used. Seeders do come and go and it normally depends on the popularity of the file - seeders can run into thousands which normally means a quick download. I have on occasion downloaded files for weeks, but music files seem to be best done overnight when the US is on line.
One tip - switch on the encryption feature as it will improve your download speeds a lot.

Most likely to be a port forwarding issue.

At the bottom of uTorrent, to the left of the download speed, there is a little icon which is the network status.

Is this green with a tick?
If not, and your router supports upnp then turn it on and turn it on also in uTorrent.

Also worth patching your tcp/ip stack.

Thanks for the suggestions and sorry for the delay, I tried to sort the port forwarding then lost the internet connection so have had to revert to the old settings,
I will be giving it another go tonight.

thanks again for the help

I just uninstalled utorrent and then reinstalled and it now seems to be doing something

It hasn't downloaded anything yet but it's looking
