Hi all,
I have been unable to log in to my "online" email account for the last two days.
It is only on this pc (my laptop logs in fine) so I assume it's some sort of security setting, but as I am a pc numpty could someone point me in
the right direction to try something please?
It is Orange (Freeserve/Wanadoo) email account.
On this pc - It directs me to a second screen to ask me to enter my email address and password again. This then loops round and round with nothing
changing. If I "guess" my password wrongly it does actually tell me so, which leads me to believe that it is just stopping me for some
security setting type reason.
I have the security set to it's lowest (Medium) setting and have tried adding the site to my "Trusted Sites" but still no joy!
TIA
Steve
donload firefox and try using that
http://www.mozilla-europe.org/en/
I had exactly the same problem only with this site
I downloaded firefox and it works fine now
Clear all cookies and temporary internet files from the computer. If you run zonealarm or similar then review the cookies/privacy settings on that too.
I was quite shocked when I last run a virus scan about just how many viruses when hanging out in my temporary internet folder, something like 12 or so, mostly Trojans (what ever that is). Now I delete the folder just before I come out of the web. I also do a scan of the shared lime wire folder if I have downloaded a program; one was identified as a Trojan dropper that sounds really nasty especially as it was like 120MB in size! It might have just nuked my computer

no 5 wheels all different sizes
Reasons for recommending trying Firefox was because it looks like an IE settings problem, If Firefox works it is an an IE settings problem if
Firefox dosen't work it points to a firewall or content filtering proxy prpblem.
More generally the reasons why so many recomend Firefox are more to do with flaws in Microsoft Internet Explorer than anything else. When Internet
Explorer was originally engineered Microsoft did not anticipate the vast array of security threats the internet would present the home users computer
with also for compedative reasons Microsoft built a more than a few secret hooks into the code that malware writers have exploited.
In contrast Firefox was designed from the outset to be more secure, comply 100% with internet standards and is just a better browser. For years now
Firefox has been always one or two steps ahead of IE on features such as tabbed browsing, storage & protection of passwords, ad blocking automatic
cookie clearing.
Security flaws have been found in Firefox but they are very quickly made public and closed very quickly unlike MS have have been known to take years
to plug known exploits.
But you do definitely need three wheels.
