Hi all - if someone sends me an e-mail with an attachment using windows vista and I am running windows xp does this mean I can't open it. My computer says that it doesn't recognise an attachment that I have been sent. I suspect the other party is using windows vista. Any ideas how to open this attachment as it is important. Thanks Graham
The OS shouldn't really matter when sending email, unfortunately I suspect that it has been created using an application you don't have.
You could try saving the attachment to your computer and see if you can open from your hard drive.

I doesn't make any difference which version of Windoze is used - it is more likely to be an application that you don't have.
Can you see what the file extension is?
admit it, it's porn, isn't it
Uh, what's the file type?
The message is: This file does not have a program associated with it performing this action. Create an association in the folder options control
panel. IE5 150J.....
I dont know how to do this. Jacko
Doesn't VISTA have the "find program on the internet for this file" option that XP has?
Otherwise you should be able to change the explorer "view" to show extensions, then look up that file format on the 'net.
