Anyone got a Blackberry (that works)?
Guinness - 8/5/08 at 06:08 AM

I "upgraded" my phone last Friday, from a 4 year old Razor to a new fangled Blackberry.

I have a Blackberry through work, which works OK, but goes through our mail servers in London. I thought this is good, I would like a similar service for my own emails.

But I just can't get my personal email to come through on the new handset. I've tried O2 support, who's sum total of advice so far has been "switch it off and then switch it on again"

I'm sure I have a different handset to the one the online instructions refer to!

My sister has one of those, showed her my stellar and she nearly burst into tears

As for the e-mail, well have you pressed the restart button? These new phones can be fickle things, sometimes that's all they need.

Do you see your e-mail account? try setting up another, takes about 5 mins I've got 3 different ones so I can choose who gets what, handy for ordering stuff so your normal one doesn't get cluttered with junk mail.

Obviously, as a locoster, you can't be expected to jump on these new technologies right away. It takes considerable time to get your head around things. We are no longer in 1959.

Have you got an icon on the unit that says "mobile e-mail settings"? If you click on that you can configure you pop/smtp settings for you personal email account. I think it is possible to block this icon however. Your company may be doing that.
