plus 4.00 post and packing is it any good or your recommendations don't laugh got none at the moment running XP + SP3 +IE7
Tony
First change your browser to Mozilla or anything but GET RID OF IE statim! And if you wanna be completely virus free get a Mac.
I use avg free and seems very good LINKY
Wouldn't touch norton with a barge pole, buts thats just my opinion.
Cheers
Rich
norton is our corporate recommendation to our customers.
I use AVG at home.
Draw your own conclusions.
Norton AV is better than any virus or trojan I have ever encountered at slowing a computer to a crawl.
At first the effects is only a minor slow down but after a few months or year it will be as productive as using a compass to navigate a magnet
factory.
Better anti-virus and anti-malware stuff out on the web for free.
First step install Firefox & Thunderbird then Avira Free Av http://www.free-av.com/
I found norton puts so much crap on your comp that it realy slows it down. dump it and get avg
Rick
if you want to pay for one, the best of the bunch is NOD (www.eset.co.uk) if you want free Bitdefender or AVG do the job fine
Cheers
Alex
PS
And in case you didn't get the mesage already avoid Norton like the plague
First thing I ever do when working on someones pc that is slowed to a crawl or having weird issues is nuke anything to do with norton or symantics.
Mcafee is ok nod is the best as far as I have heard but I use avg.
Dale ( was IT for ford assembly plant for 17 years)
I use AVG 8.0 Free under Vista. It works very nice.
I have trown Mcafee out off the window cause the speed was a drama! bye 39 euro.
But AVG is for free: www.grisoft.com
Norton Best avoided as much as possible - back when I didnt know better I had it on my PC , running Windows 2000 - untill one day it decided to
un-install itself , along with a large number of windows components...........
AVF free for me ever since - and no problems in the last three years
thanks folks, downloaded avg no probs, if I use firefox as a web browser do i have to unistall ie7 or just download and run firefox then set it up as
primary browser, any advice gratefully accepted
Tony
Thats what I`ve done - I was told if you remove internet explorer then windows wouldnt work properly ?
You cannot remove IE from a windows based machine as much of the OS depends on various components of it.
Just roll back the installation to IE6 (go to add remove programs >windows updates).
Set firefox as your default browser then you wont have any problems. I find it quite handy to have both, as there are still the odd few sites that FF
doesnt seem to like too much.
I use Avast anti-virus, seems to do the job

200-odd pc's, the stupidest 16 y.o. staff the minimum wage can rustle up, and NOD32. In 6 years, not had to sort out a single virus issue. Nuff said
