I need some software to convert .avi files to something I can burn to DVD to watch on the TV.
I've tried a couple of free ones but they either crash or won't run.
Can anybody recommend a good one?
I use DVDsanta, simple and has yet to let me down
Roxio Toast 9 or 10 i belive will do the job or the much more expensive ProCoder which will do just about anything to anything
Thanks chaps - DVD santa on it's way
ConvertXtoDVD - Is'nt free but then that's never stopped people before
Converts roughly anything you chuck at it
I swear by WinAvi
I use DVD Flick seems to work for me OK
Tried DVDSanta last night, seemed to encode to DVD fine and burn the disk, but still wouldn't play in my player (reasonable quality Yamaha one,
so not a Tesco's cheapy).
I'll try one of the other ones.....

Well ConvertXtoDVD looked simple to use, but wouldn't recognise any blank DVD I put in my recorder....
WinAvi seems to be doing the job ok, yet to test it on my DVD player though..... sure I'll get there.
Am I write in presuming that they will not be an Dolby Digital surround sound from a .avi file?
