where can i learn
a) what all these technical terms mean
b) how to use my pc fully

i can use the internet and i do a bit of invoicing and a few quotations but thats it im stuck on anything more complicated i cant even type with more than my two index fingers

yes i am a tad thick when it comes to computers

Might want to try a local evening class ...

local library may do somthing or evening course or a local college.

If you are wanting to get a bit of paper the 'Claits' ( if it is still going isnt bad )

I have always used the 'dummies' books looking arround my desk I have 2 at the moment

Unix For Dummies and Visual Basic .NET fo r Dummies ( 7 volumes in 1 !!! ) but must have arround 5 to 50 of these and found them all very good.

I am sure they will do an intro into computers but look for somthing that is bassed around your operating system ( probably XP ).

Oh in answer to your actual questions

a) You never will as they change as soon as you lern them.
b) you never will, you will only learn to get on with it. It may save you time but it will always ensure that at the worst moment it will cause you more trouble and strife than its worth.

Ps I have been working with PC's for 19 years and there are still thing that confuse me.

PS ia m only up to 4 fingure tying and a thumb !!!

I'm pretty useless on computers too, just picking up stuff where I can with advice form here and friends.

There may be a couple of ways you can learn though.

The F1 Key is generally considered the HELP Key. For example if you are in the MS Word program then you can hit F1 and then allows you to type something into the Index and that will list all the things in relation to the words you typed.

You could also try typing the phrase you are struggling with into Google.

Or if you really want to learn then you could search Google for Step by Step lessons on certain programs. This has a specific name and for the life of me I cannot remember what it is called!

It takes a "special" sort of person to want to learn to use a computer for the sake of it. Following on from the others however, if you have a specific requirement and are prepared to research (books, help and google in particular) then there is almost NOTHING you cannot accomplish these days. You'll have to put the work in but someone will have done it, blogged about it and it can be found on google.

working in IT, the thing i always tell people to do is just have a play.Llook around at things.... dont be scared to run those programs youve never run before.

you wont learn everything from books... you need to get stuck in and use it in a real world environment, then when/if you get stuck look up the bits you need
