15 sec drop in voltage???????????
t.j. - 16/9/08 at 04:05 PM

Hi,

Any electrician on board?
If I turn on my Lexmark T522 laserprinter, all my lights flicker at an interval of 15 sec?
Just a little dip, but irritating enough

Any clue's or help are welcome.

It may be normal for the heater in the fixing unit to keep it warm for a while after switch on. The heaters could be 300-1000w, so if your hose wiring /extension lead is at all flaky it may be showing up a problem with your wiring rather tna with the unit itself

It may be just one of those things, especially if you're on a high impedance supply. What happens when your switch an electric kettle on?

If the lights don't dip with the kettle on then it's worth checking your printer and the fuse rating.

If the lights dip significantly when you switch the kettle on it's worth taking a look at your main distribution board. IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING GET SOMEONE WHO DOES.

One simple check on your distribution board is to lift the lid and check for any signs, or smells, of burning on the copper or insulation. You could also put a big load on it and listen for any arcing. AGAIN, IF YOU'RE NOT SURE DON'T TOUCH IT.
