Silly excel question

When I save excel files, some show in blue and some in black - why

The blue files are encrypted or compressed. It probably means you've either compressed the files, or you;ve got a setting that automatically compresses files on the fly when you close them.

If you right click on a blue file, then click on Advance, you should see that the Compress file box is checked.

Another cause,

If you've just upgraded excel, the default compress settings may be different, new version not compressing, but same reason as above.....

It means the files at the top are feeling a bit down as the files below them are financially secure.
