If so, they were originally fitted to Volvos or similar. I can't see that there would be any problem as they won't come off unless you choose to lift the cover.

I have been given a pair of quick release terminals. The sort that are a bit like the catches on those aluminum flight cases, but with plastic covers
(I'll try an photo them later). My mate used to use them for camping & having a separate battery to power stuff in his camper van.
Has anyone tried using them before, or found that they are not allowed?
My only concert is if you are not allowed them as they don't screw down. They are a bit of a job to remove so wouldn't easily fall off mind.

You may find the plastic covers dont stay on after a while but they are great clamps.
Never seen those before, interesting.
They won't pose a problem for SVA...
Too big to use on a BEC battery though 
For loom testing some crocodile clips works well. Then if things start getting hot you can quickly pull the crocs off before you let out the magic
smoke 
Those QR battery clamps are, as you say, a bit slow to remove in the event you turn your garage into a disco (smoke machine stylee)...
I have one on the negatvie terminal of my Land Rover's battery - never come off despite loads of bouncing road off road.
The contact is a much smaller area than crimp terminals so make sure the wires are clean before you fit the clamp.
