Best Kit for a Bike Engine Car
Gremlin - 26/3/10 at 04:25 PM

After a long time out I am finally ready to look at building again.

I am looking for a kit that suite a bike engine but road use. I don’t want to go silly with money but also don’t want to scrimp because I want to end up with something that handles well and looks good.

Since I last looked there seem to be some introduction of new kits and modification on old ones and wondered what would be classified as a good bike engine car.

My vote, based purely on what you have said, is the Aries Motorsport Locoblade.

Another vote for Aries Motorsport. The well established Locoblade design won many race championships in it's Stuart Taylor guise.
Owner Steve is a top bloke as well.

i didnt look where you are based but you should try and buy local. A quick pop in to pick up helps.
I had a mac 1 motorsposts worx which is a dedicated bike engine chassiss. It seemed well built handled well and they offer alot of trick bits.

If I was going BEC then it would have to be a mid-engine design for me...

Another vote for the Aries locoblade, Steve is top bloke and will sell you as much or as little as you want with no pressure.

Think I would go for:

MK Engineering Midi
Aries LocoBlade
Striker

My reason for going for the Midi is beause it's being constructed by someone that's been round the block a couple times, and is passionate about new projects...

However, for a 1st timer (if that's what you are) I would prob stick to a front engined kit in all honesty and the Locoblade is one kit that doesn't let a lower budget force shortcuts in the overall package...

Oh, and everyone's entitled to their opinion, but if you truly want a simple car that is fast, then go for as light a car and build as possible!!!

Caterham but if yer quids won't stretch that far the Mac lads do a damn fine chassis for bike engines

Another vote for Aries Motorsport.

Brought a chassis kit from Steve a couple of months ago, and it looks top quality.

Steve is a great bloke and is always at the end of the phone for all those build questions.

Thanks people.

It will be my first full build. Made it half way through a R1 build once up on a time, even taking the time to weld and build my own chassis but divorce struck.

Going to try a kit this time and hopefully going to get it finished.
