Wife lost the Cmax key - how to programme another?
Norfolkluegojnr - 9/11/12 at 09:22 AM

Morning Gents,

Arrived home last night with the wife flapping about having lost her key for our 04 plate Focus Cmax. I've still got the original key (non bleeper type) but will obviously need to replace hers, as this is now the only one.

is there a locost option? I'd rahter not give a ford main dealer all my money this month. It'll take the wife a lot of cakes to pay me back........

Ta as always

there are plenty of independant locksmiths that can do it for less than ford

(btw if its like my mk1 focus you need 2 original keys to program a new one yourself without the diagnostics machine...)

wow that was a big avatar

Think its the later type - not round, but flat with a wiggly line cut in it.

thanks for the tip, will search for locksmiths.....

I reprogrammed my 59 plate focus the other day for central locking. Do a search on google and it should bring up the results.

Not too sure on the imobaliser side though. Again google may help

According to Auto data, remote key programming...

Close doors, fasten front seat belts.

Switch ignition on 4 times within 6 seconds, switch off ignition with existing key.

Programming mode active for 10 secs'.

Press and release any button on new key.

Audible warning will sound.

Exit programming mode by switching on ignition or wait 10 secs.

Autodata isnt always right though.

any idea if this would sort the immobiliser chip in the key as well?

autodata only tells you how to prog the remote locking side of things ,to do the pats/starting you need a decent lock smith who can prog keys of the back of the one you have or ford dealer and ids.

Ok thanks for advice.

Well, if i'm going to give someone some money at least I can support a local business!

Cheers gents.

This is the door lock/unlock only and does not do the immobiliser.

I didn't find solution other than pay Fraud.

I lost a key for my old Passat 57 plate. After much hunting the best solution I came up with was buying a 2nd hand key of eBay for £10 and persuading the local VW dealer to re-code it for me for £45. This worked and saved me around £140 on the cost of a replacement key from VW. The key is simply a fob that pushes into the dashboard though, not a key key if that makes sense.

My passat came with a receipt that the guy had from a main dealer for a replacement key a month earlier - £145 with programming etc.

Scary, given I paid £300 for the car!

Local timsons Key cutting place often advise that they can imobaliser keys do this but not sure if that is a Imobaliser or imobaliser and blipper.

I lost my VW key, immobiliser and door blooper. 'Timpsons' type place couldn't do it but suggested a local independant guy. He visited with van which had more computers in it than a CIA surveillance van(and a key cutting machine). Took him half an hour to cut and fully code the key. £40. He said VW keys have a once and only immobiliser that can't be reprogrammed but he had a packet of fresh ones anyway. Fords might be reprogrammable but unlikely. Cue another question thread.

bi22le - 9/11/12 at 05:58 PM

Yup locking only. Also you switch between position 2 and 3 on the barrel. Not fully on then off.
