s2k locost
dimlaz - 12/2/12 at 05:53 PM

Hello
I'm from Greece and i have the ambition to build a locost with engine from honda s2000. Because this engine is bigger than usual I desided to use the mcsorley plans (+442) instead the book plans. I had began the chassis construction the last summer and now i'm building the front wishbones.
Here some photos from my progress

Cut the middle out of the rail across the chassis and put your gear lever where you can reach it from the driver seat then make your tunnel fit round it. Remember to leave room for your feet and pedals though.

thanks for your advice.
the possible engine position will be about 2'' back.
i think i follow your advice and i put the seat on place to find out the final position.

May I ask a couple of questions? The diff fixing looks a little weak although it does look like standard mounts, is there something a bit bigger on the front or underneath the diff also fixing it to the frame? I can't really tell from the pictures. I'm just comparing them to the normal Sierra diff mount which is a steel plate fixing with reinforcement.

The lower rear wishbones also look like they've got no triangulation in them, aren't they just going to twist and snap as soon as you accelerate?

dimlaz - 19/5/13 at 09:13 PM

i have 2 mounts on the front like engine mounts.
the rear wishbones is adjustable and i m going to weld the triangulation pipe only if is necesery (after the test run).

You absolutely do need the diagional in the lower rear wishbones.

because there are no front shocks/springs yet and its on a bump.

dimlaz - 14/1/14 at 04:19 PM

Yes it's because there are no front shocks/springs yet and its on a bump. I think after the shocks placement it will be ok.
