Im looking to buy an outdoor jacket for mrs Locoboy for Christmas.
Good job she doesnt frequent the forum eh!
Im after a waterproof outer with a fleecy kind of inner.
Im looking for an online seller as its easy!
I prefer to stay away from blacks, cotswold etc as they tend to sell run of the mill / fashion items as opposed to real practical gear.
Can anyone reccommend any independant resellers with online shops?
I had brilliant service in the past from a company in Scotland called aktive8.com but unfortunately they are not offering anything on their website
thats suitable at the moment.
Cheers

Try Country innovations or hilltrek type of shops, proper outdoor gear but expensive. Type "ventile jacket" in google you'll get lots of suppliers.
Had some good stuff from our local manufacturer, Tog24.
Web site.
If you want 'technical' outdoor stuff, for hiking/scrambling/climbing then North Face, Berghaus and Sprayway are excellent. You can also
order online from EMS (Eastern Mountain Sports) in the US - great stuff too. Note that some of the stuff is very sport specific - a climbing jacket
will be quite short so it doesn't interfere with your rack and harness, but means you will get a wet arse if you wear it as a normal jacket.
If you want more 'country' stuff, i.e. darker colours and harder wearing, suitable for riding, then Musto is brilliant.
Finally, if you want stuff that is waterproof, hardwearing and completely silent (soft materials) suitable for rough shooting and stalking, then
Deerhunter are the way to go.
I obviously have too many hobbies

Oh, and I should add, all Decathlon own-brand stuff is excellent and very well priced.
