In my R1 Indy i'm currently running a 3.92 sierra diff with push in shafts and standard drum brakes.

I am looking to change the diff and have sourced 2 different options.

1) a 3.62 which will simply replace the 3.92 i have.

2) a 3.36 from a Granada with bolt on shafts, discs etc.

Which would be the better option and will the hassle/cost of fitting the 3.36 give worthwhile benefits over the simple drop-in of the 3.62?

Arent the Granada items slightly bigger diffs ??

think they are 7 1/2" from granada but there is a 3.38 7"diff i think!
some 3.62 difs have LSD

I've just changed the diff in mine, replaced the 3.62 for a 3.92 and its made the car more lively on the road, better take up and now I can doughnut as well

I have a 3.62 with push in shafts here if you need them...

my R1 mnr has 3.62 lsd and hits 123 mph! the 3.38 will oviously hit a higher speed but it might not be quite as lively through the gears. i personally think the 3.62 is best for this engine but others will disagree

If the 3.38 is non lsd then there is the option of taking the back plate off and removing the circlips that hold the lobro stub flanges on allowing you to take them off and use push in shafts.

Stick the 3.62 diff in. The ratio of the Granada diff may be slightly better but not worth the hassle of changing the diff mounts to accomodate it.

I am going to buy both, and initially drop the 3.62 in. If i'm happy with it then all is well, if not at least i'll have the option of swapping over to the 3.36.
