High lads has anyone used a Honda 3.0 v6 in a kit car
If so what gearbox was mated with it and how
I have a complete 3.0 vtec accord with sits at 200+ bhp as std and think this would be a nice reliable plant for the build but honda never fitted
these in rwd cars
I have a cunning plan involving a subaru drivetrain converted to rwd but this is untried as yet
I personally wouldn't entertain the idea, Would be too heavy in my opinion, there's much better suited engines out there which are tried and
tested.

How is an all alloy v6 too heavy
Just looked it up there at 110 kg
Sounds like a great idea!
Does it spin the right way? I thought a lot of Honda engines spin the wrong way!
Could make a cracking engine/donor for a middy project!
Yes it spins the right way unlike the Honda b series
And it auto so no good with current box
Try the Honda Vigour trans ? It at least has a longitudinally mounted engine (5cyl) but it is a FWD unit though.
As all Honda bits were designed for compatibility, likely a 6 speed TL clutch assembly could fit the crank.
Also the S2000 trans is a possible. V6 might be better than the S2000 engine as there is decent Tq with the V6..
And 275 hp variants :-)
How tall is the engine ?
Just wandering if bonnet clearance will be an issue when you have allowed for enough ground clearance under the sump and also the belhousing ?

Excellent! I think it's great when people want to try something just a little bit different. You can make anything fit, if you start from the
right chassis, with a bit of engineering and imagination.
It might be worth having a look at http://www.alfadax.com, 'The Black Flash's build diary. He's using an Alfa v6 mated to an
S2000 box. I don't know how the Alfa and Honda engines compare size-wize, but there will be a few useful pointers to be picked up from that
site.
Good luck - as a Honda fan, I'll watch with interest!
I saw one fitted in a dutton a few years ago, they had cut and shut the bellhousing (to fit a manual) using a mig with alloy wire! It was really fast and sounded nice.
That's me happy now once someone else has tried it I'm happy
And yes iit is a really sweet sounding engine and being a vtec Honda it gonna love to be revved

just look up google search Honda v6 engine weight that's what ya get 110kg
Hi Nivek,
Have you considered running your 3.0 transverse in the rear? You could easily build a middi....
Rob
Auto box fitted to all European Honda 3.0 cars
Only a few Honda acuara six speed manuals in the USA
After much googling that's what I've found out
Kinda wanna stick with the front engine rear drive plan if possible
Might have sourced another complete impreza turbo with head trouble for 250€

Cool was only suggesting an idea. I like the idea of a Honda v6, keep us posted.
You might have a few issues with a scooby boxer four in a locost by the way, before you buy check the width and height of the engine. I wanted to do
this originally, and although I'm very sure it could be done, I don't think it would end up looking much like a locost.... The EJ20 is
wider than you think and if your trying to fit the heads in between the chassis rails you will most likely need a dry sump, they have deep sumps.
Rob
Engine is buggered in the impreza
It's the gearbox and drivetrain I'm after
The Honda v6 as it sits in the accord is 26inches high
And 25 inch wide including exhaust manifolds
Could someone throw a tape on their.engine bay to see if the above would fit in
