I see that the xjr now goes for anything from 900 upwards on eBay. Why don't we see them used as donnars more often. Big power lovely noise and cheap. Is there something am missing

The standard ECU needs loads of things to make it work properly, that's why you do not really see any manual XK8's or XKR's out there
as losing the auto box screws it up.
Aston Martin's v8 vantages etc engine is derived from this lump so flywheels etc are avaiable, I believe these have transaxles so not an easy
gearbox for locost.
The engines are huge though, although light and powerful, I enjoyed running a XK8 for 3 years, 60,000 miles with just regular servicing, they are
strong but check the tensioners and chains have been replaced.
I've got one....it's still in an XJR though.....£2500 and it's yours - you can tell us how you get on....? ;-)
Might be worth dropping this guy a line
supercharged jaguar 425hp v8 engine and 6 speed manual box hotrod conversion
I know a mate of mine did a manual box conversion on his straight 6 XJR....I didn't see the point in a jag, but I suppose a nice fit in something lightweight.....?
Got a feeling one of the early viento's was fitted with a jag straight 6 (there was an BMW straight 6 as well). Gd legend m3 did appeal to me though.
Certainly be better in a Westfield S-eight instead of that rover lump......
