The kmixer-sys is windows sound mixer driver so that shouldn't have caused any problems.
I'll assume you have Windows Xp

What may have happended is that either
a) your hard drive has died (or is about to)
b) virus has infected system files.
c) dodgy Microshaft update has screwed up your system files (seen this happen a few times)

First you need to make sure the system can see the drive through the set up.
Then try booting to the safe screen by pressing F8 during the boot process.

If the hard drive is there and it boots to safe screen you should be able to restore to an earlier time. If the hard drive is there and it doesn't boot then you need to use an xp set up disc to restore the system files.

Hope that helps
