IE 8
Hi
Microsoft is making me the offer to 'upgrade' from IE 7 to IE 8 free, is this: a) a good idea, b) advisable to wait a while, c) avoid it
like the plague?
Regards Mick

I use safari for PC, free and great
If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation

I use firefox and IE for work and at home.
I use firefox by default. the biggest issue i have with firefox is when you right click some of the terms aren't (to me) instantly obvious.
BIG (huge) plusses on firefox are the extensions - like every time I misspell a word it underlines it and i can right click and get the correct
spelling. It also has ad blockers and pop up blockers that are (when i looked) far more competent than IE.

I generally update/upgrade my IE when it offers it, unlikely to do any harm, and improves security a little when I am forced into using IE.
Been using Firefox for almost 6 years now in various forms, never going back.

Do you find that Firefox works on all web pages?
I tried it and gave up as it just didn't work with a lot of stuff - things like drop down menus etc.
IE crashes occasionally, but i've never come across a web page that won't work with it.

Firefox - for usual stuff.
IE if the occasional Site doesn't support it - which is increasingly rare. I cant be doing with the slowness, and insecurity of IE

FF for me. IE only when web developers have been annoyingly narrow minded!!

I'd say I probably encounter 1 page every 3 months that's completely unusable with firefox, sometimes formatting can be different to IE
(but that's because of stuff being coded poorly to suit older versions of IE)
Honestly can't remember the last time I had to fire up IE, some stuff still uses it automatically, but no actual need to use it.

Just recently, Firefox has taken an age to load up on my laptop, I've uninstalled and reinstalled, still the same. I'm now using Google
chrome. Loads instantly, not yet found a site that it doesn't like and the incognito window is useful (although IE8 has now copied this
function)

Hi
Well I took the plunge and loaded IE8 and so far, 'touch wood', it's been OK - however I am by no means an IT guru.
Cheers for the responses
