Fujitsu Siemens Laptop Problem

Hi all, I've got a fujitsu siemens esprimo laptop C45 V5545 is what it says on the bottom.

The switch that operates when the screen is open/shut is playing up, I have to flick it with a pen top to get the screen to come on and sometimes it doesn't recognise when it's shut and the screen stays on, it gets all hot and bothered then as it's downloading updates and the like when it's closed.

I've searched the net and can't find any specific info and unfortunately it's just out of warranty, does none have any clues as to where/how to get a spare part or how to fix it?

Cheers, Stott

mine does that sometimes (not a siemens though) have a nasty feeling if the switch has gone, it'll involve some soldering on a a very expensive circuit board.

on the key board though, there should be a button you can press which put the laptop in the same position as when you close the top down (depends how you have yours set up)

on mine its fn + F4

You can tell windows to ignore whether the lid is shut or open, control panel, power option and its in there.

You'll need to have a gamble and try another battery to find out if its the battery (probably) or the charging circuit on the main board.

I wouldn't recomend Fujitsu siemens laptops to anyone, I've had two and my brothers had one (That went back 3 times) and they've never been very good or lasted long without falling apart.

My fully charged light hasn't come on since the last time I unplugged the charger (2 weeks ago) and the keyboard is pretty much dead (The numbers work and I think e h and O but thats about it).
