what laptop on broadband wireless to go for ?

We are thinking of getting a laptop, to be used mostly on surfing,
There are offers from o2 etc were you pay for the broadband/wireless setvice and get a "free laptop"

firstly are these offers really that good, and are the laptops effectivly owned by ourselves, or do you have to keep renewing the contracts

any feedback apprecciated

regards

steve

You usually have to sign into a 2 year deal after which it's yours.

I have a Compaq 6720s which I got through such a deal. The broadband bill was the same as I was already paying and I was going to have the bill to pay anyway.

It's pretty much the same as a free contract phone - with a monthly bill.

It works for me, but as the old saying goes YMMV.

My contract is a 2 year deal laptops aren't great spcs I had to update the memory to cope with Vista as it only came with 1gb.

My phone calls are also tied in to the deal. I would recomment that you google different providers and look at who offers the best download speeds etc.

I looked into this but did the sums and bought lappy off ebay - so far so good. I would have paid much more the "free" laptop if I went for one of those deals - the contracts are 18 or 24 month.

Do your homework on laptop and connection price and compare.
