I thought you could still get a free version of Ad-Aware? Try googling it, just to be sure. I used to use it along with another program called SpyBot; Search & Destroy.

However, I always used to use them and then remove the programs, as a lot of them nowadays have their ownn little adverts built in somewhere.

My advice, get rid of the popups and then go get the free version of AVG and set it up correctly, you should be fine in future.

My 2p's worth!

Malwarebytes would be my recommendation.

Powerful, effective and free with a good forum too.

Personally I use Spybot search and destroy and Malwarebytes. Have't seen one get through that combo yet.

Annoyingly someone keeps on sending me an e-mail called "Fotos 07/08" which links to an infected .scr file. I've told them they're infected but so far they haven't done anything about it and I'm getting loads of copies of the same e-mail each day

i already run AVG (although i dont rate it that much) but its free

iv just put spybot back on and it picked up 90 items from somewhere - hmmmmm - cleaned them all seems ok now..

might keep that on for now - the adaware is defo not free now - you have to pay!

A friend of mine asked me to sort out his 'popups' on his laptop. I tried the usual software ad-aware, Hijackthis etc. but the only one that worked was ... SUPERAntiSpyware.
